San Juan de Lurigancho

Happy Thanksgiving

We wanted to share our Peru experience because it’s something we are thankful for.

So much has happened in San Juan de Lurigancho

San Juan de Lurigancho is in a lot of ways ghetto, it’s known for gangs, prostitution, drugs and is still under a state of emergency with cops and military helping to restore the community. It’s a city that is 50 square miles and has 1.25 million people there. That’s more populated than San Francisco by a lot to give you an understanding of what it’s like.

If you remember I went there a year and a half ago with a group of people and it was such a great experience, so a few of us built a team of 21 people and went back.

We did so much and you all made this happen. We saw over 200 decisions for Jesus. We accomplished this by doing a Family  Friendly Festival, street ministry, preaching at a little league baseball game and more.

Here is a picture of most of our team. We had people from Florida, Pennsylvania, Estonia, Virginia, Ecuador.

One of the greatest blessings for me was that for the first time we were able to afford to take our whole family on a mission trip. Thanks so much to everyone who helped support us to get to that point.

This is my mother in law Elizabeth praying for someone on the street. We did street ministry almost everyday while we were there and it was amazing. Most of the people on our team had never lead someone to the Lord on the street and they were doing it. It was amazing to see!

This is my favorite moment of the whole trip. Katherine preached at the Family Friendly Festival and over 50 people responded to the Gospel. It was truly amazing! This was her first time sharing the Gospel like this and when she gave the call for salvation so many people came foward! It was so cool!

When we go on mission trips often people come to us for prayer for healing and people get touched and healed by Jesus and so the Pastors of a church we work with down there asked us to do a healing service and so we did. Jovannah and Cynthia got involved and people were getting touched, it was so cool. This lady here was weeping while Jovannah and Cynthia prayed for her, they didn’t even have a translator, they just laid hands and God did the rest. One man came to me after the service and said God is with your child because she laid hands on me and I felt fire go into me and now my leg is healed. Wow, we serve an awesome God!

Here we went to a drug rehab and preached and prayed for the people and their families. It was awesome that God aligned the trip so that it would be a day where families also visited the men in the home.

We got to preach and prayed for them and at the end one of the leaders stopped everything and started to cry and he shared how he never felt the presence of God like he was experiencing that day as he sharing with tears in his eyes he just began to lead us all in more worship. It was so amazing.

I wish you all could have come on this trip with us so you could truly understand the impact and importance of what God did through a simple yes from you as you sowed into the ministry we did.

THANK YOU!!!
